Innovating Advertising

I found this great post about creative advertisements and just had to share. It's really quite ingenious the way some of these people thought about public spaces and ways to advertise their client's products.

I wish we had advertising like this in Calgary or Saskatoon, it would make for an interesting streetscape. Found via Samantha Burns.

Really? If I saw this in Vancouver I would run screaming. If I saw it on any kind of a pubic facility, I would vehemently oppose it.

I guess you and I are on completely different sides of the fence on this one. There is way too much advertising and it is omnipresent. From weaving product into complete TV show story lines, to people willing to place ads on their body, to intrusive and uninvited text messages on your phone, to advertising even in schools ...

Billboards are bad enough. Gigantic beer bottles covering building scaffolding does nothing but annoy me. I would 'not' buy Heineken simply because of this ad. Everything needs to be commodified now. And, what does it say that there is absolutely nowhere you can go to escape marketing messages?

It's certainly done nothing to improve humanity because we are the most crass, consumerist and image-obsessed society in history.

That should be "public" facility. Not sure I'd like to see a pubic facility.
