Neglect

I haven't made a post in over a week and I'm starting to feel really bad about it. There are a couple of reasons for my absense: I've been hit with a serious case of real life, and I really haven't got anything to write about, which is really frustrating. Maybe I need to come up with a new format for the content on this site or something, who knows. You guys have any suggestions for me? I'm open to anything.

I will try to start coming up with more stuff here soon.

Airport Parking

I know parking in Calgary is terrible, especially downtown, but I really didn't think it would be bad. $4.00 per half hour in short-term is absolutely outrageous. When I dropped Ryan off at the airport on Thursday I got stuck paying $8 to park for about 40 minutes. I got lucky picking him today and the parking attendant let me go free, which was very very cool. However, $4 for a half hour is absolutely outrageous. This isn't downtown and I really don't think short term parking is hurting for space at Calgary International. Crooks.

Hairless

Over the weekend I decided that it had been too long since I had a haircut (May 8 to be exact) and thought it would be a good idea to just pick up my roommates clippers and shave it all off. Bad idea. So now I've got no hair, so don't expect me to post any pictures any time soon. I hope it grows quickly.

Damnit Riders

Riders End of week four and our beloved Green and White are the bottom dwellers of the Western Conference with one measly win. What a pathetic start to the season. We've been stomped in high-scoring games twice, once by BC and last Saturday by Calgary all of places.

Calgary is about the worst team to lose to this season, especially at home with the most hated man in Saskatchewan, Smilin' Hank at the helm for the opponents. What a fucking disaster. It was 20-20 going into the half, and then we just stopped playing in the third quarter. I mean, we did give them a bit of a push in the fourth quarter offensively but without any defense how the hell can we overcome a 16 point lead? Grrr.

If we don't start winning soon the last two years will threepeat. What a waste.

The Constant Gardener

I finally finished reading The Constant Gardener by John Le Carre a little less than two weeks ago. My early apprehensions of the book were corrected later, when the story actually turned into the spy novel I was expecting and it turned into a really entertaining read.

Shortly after finishing the book I went out and purchased the DVD of the film adaptation. All the film did was once again establish that most novels should not be converted to film. The movie was ... well ... alright at best, but didn't do the book justice. Not even Canadian justice. Hell, not even American justice. They changed some of the best parts of the movie! Trash!

Sam's Coming!

I'm heading out to the airport in about twenty minutes to pick up my little sister, Sam, who's here to visit again for a week. This means I'm going to have to park there again. I've come up with a master plan to solve a number of my minor-problems on the way there.

  1. Gas: I'm almost out, so I'll stop at Esso and pump in $10. (Esso is about one block from my house).
  2. Parking: I have no cash for parking, so to pay for the gas I'll pull out $20 from the in-store ATM.
  3. Coffee:: Esso has an in-store Tim Hortons, so I'll get my extra large French Vanilla Cappuccino.

I will then use the $20 to pay for the gas and the coffee, which should leave me with close to $8 for parking. As long as I'm not at the airport for longer than 60 minutes, I'm golden!

36 Holes

I was in Saskatoon on Saturday and Sunday, and not in Regina as most -- myself include -- would have liked. Although Saturday was not too fun, Sunday was not bad! Marc and I hit Moonlake Golf Course and decided to hit 18 holes, which we played mediocre at best, until about the 12th hole when we both turned it on. After the 18 we decided to play another 9, which we played very very well so we decided to go another 9.

Eleven hours in 30+ degree weather would usually mean a terrible sunburn, but aside from my legs I'm quite alright. Golf is sweet.
