Calgary: A Day Late

I should be living in Calgary today, but a couple of things have happened that have left me stranded in Saskatoon for at least one more day.

First of all, the house we were supposed to be moving into today has had a "problem" that we were informed of on Monday: the water pipes froze and burst, and the entire house has to be refloored apparently, so we are no longer able to live in the house.

Crap!!

So the plan was to head up today anyway, kick it at a hotel for a couple of nights and try to find some permanent lodging. Then the snow started. We got totally snowed in today, and are stuck here for at least one more night. Hopefully we will be able to head out early tomorrow morning.

I plan on making "daily" updates about the move to Calgary. I won't necessarily post them every day, but I will write them every day then post them later (I won't have enough access to the internet the moment we move in to do it daily, but I will write them daily, I promise!)

So stay tuned.

Calgary. Part I

I've decided to abandon my idea of taking a daily journal of everything that goes down in my new city of residence. Just a waste of time. However, I am currently in Saskatoon awaiting my roommates to get their shit together and moved to Calgary. Hopefully tomorrow.

So, this weekend in Calgary (actually from Thursday to Sunday) we were able to get quite a bit accomplished. We found a house (actually, a duplex). Two of us were able to garner a few more employment interviews. I was able to locate a few friends I hadn't seen in years and had a good time.

I'm only back in Saskatchewan for a day or two. My next post will be from Alberta.

Settled in...

I haven't typed a word here in weeks, and according to Google Analytics, people are still coming around here. I'm sure it's a select few people who actually know me, and a few random bums checking in on me or something, I dunno what the hell you guys are still doing around here but whatever, here's an update...

We got to Calgary on March 8, and we've been here since. I slept the first few nights on the hardwood floor, and it sucked something large. After that I slept on something that can only be described as half of a loveseat for about a week -- equally as uncool as the hardwood floor. Then I bought a cheap ass couch and chair for $35 simply so I could get by without demolishing what was left of my back -- and knees, but more on that later.

Then came nirvana -- my crap arrived from Saskatoon. Oh hell yeah! Sleeping in my bed (which I've slept on a max of 25 times since I bought it in September) was one of the best experiences of my life. Pure woohoo!

I started work on the 13th at a warehouse, and the work sucked. Terrible. I miss my shitty last job already, which is weird, because I hated my last job.

On Saturday we went out to Banff (one of my roommates, a couple of friends and I) and partied good and hard. Uhm, I'm lazy. I'll post more later.

No more RX-7

Well, the time has come. My RX-7 is officially no longer my vehicle. The fire that occured way back in September has finally culminated in SGI considering it a total loss, cutting me a check and taking title of the vehicle. I am a little upset that I won't get to enjoy the car this spring & summer, but now comes the task of tracking down a new vehicle to replace it.

On a good note, I received more for the car than I paid for it, so my options are quite open as to what I want to buy. However, the car market in Calgary is not all that great. Everything is either hurting, or overpriced, so hopefully I can find a decent replacement for it.
